ARCs, reviews and guests..oh my!
Every step of the way, I’ve found myself getting more and more excited. Just a few days ago, after I got my copy for my final approval of Be With Us, I wondered if it was possible for me to get more excited. And the simple answer is yes.
You see, I got my ARCs last night. An ARC stands for Advanced Reading Copy, (or Reader’s Copy depending on whom you ask). It is your book in its entirety. It’s exactly what your reader is going to see when they purchase your book. This is what you give away as prizes in contests and promotions and what you give to reviewers. In a little less than a week, my first book will be officially for sale. Exciting stuff, right?
Here’s the thing. My excitement is now heavily tinged with anxiety. What if it goes up for sale and the only one who buys a copy is my mom (who has admitted she will probably skip over some of the steamier parts which is TOTALLY fine with me)?
And reviews? I just sent out my first batch of request for reviews, which is making me a little sick to my stomach. I had always told myself that I wouldn’t care about reviews…that I write for the love of writing. Who was I kidding? I live in fear of a bad review. I expect I will learn to take things with a grain of salt, as reviews are subjective personal opinions but no one wants someone to trash something they’ve worked on for months, sometimes even years.
Moving on to other stuff, I’m proud to say that two authors have already signed up to do guest blogs on my site. Both are fellow Siren authors. In fact, I’m going to be guest blogging myself in early December. Stay tuned for more details on the blog swaps!
That’s if for now. Gotta go and snuggle up with my son and a good book!
